THE 1ST STEP TOWARDS REAL CHANGE The 1st step towards real change is keeping your mouths shut on my mandated white gaze ban. The 2nd step is keeping your mouths shut on other Black people’s non mandated pages! The 3rd step is in owning the decades of gaslighting and tone policing (including your silence) when we shared our truths and our pain and stop pretending like you were there all along! HOW DO DEVELOP COMMONSENSE One of the many reasons why we keep falling for the same okey doke is frankly, people do not care about other people. I don’t mean it in a malicious way; I’m saying that we (and when I say ‘we’ I mean mostly white folk but not discluding us) are conditioned to only care for ourselves. And given that this pandemic appears to affect us all, it’s a perfect opportunity to build your common sense skills now that we have this common threat, so that later, when the common threat has receded, you can use these techniques and not just parrot what everyone else is saying. Commonsense requires at least 5 things: 1. Information. Without verifiable info, we cannot speak confidently on anything. And we do not have that. More on this later. 2. Integrity. REPENTING OF RACISM Racism means that firing ALL of the white cops from elsewheres patrolling Black spaces who hashtag, frame, brutalize, flood our streets with drugs and guns and whisk our kids away in CHILD rape rings to them and to others is considered ‘radical’ and ‘racist’, needing more ‘moderate’ measures like bodycams, civilian oversight and liability insurance instead, because the underlying racist premise that we’re programmed to think but NEVER (or rarely) say is that we are incapable of policing ourselves and that white cops from elsewheres are the last bastion of defense against utter chaos in our streets. IF YOU’RE GONNA READ A BOOK ON BLACK OPPRESSION... If you’re gonna read a book on Black oppression by a white author, check out (or even see the movie) Black Like Me. This author at least when asked to be the white whisperer of his day during the riots of that time said, when asked about how to deal with the Negro question, ‘Well why don’t you ask them...and then do what they say.’ He and his family later received death threats and were forced to flee the country. I didn’t even include that book by that author in this list because this is for Black men - christians in particular. THE CORONER VIRUS So last week, a Chinese couple that I work with (they’ve been in business in our area for over 33 years) asked what I thought about this virus. I told them that MY concern is the hashtags by cops twice a week, EVERY WEEK and another Black guy on death row who is once again innocent. They felt relieved. Yesterday, one of my CHILD student chess champions loudly proclaims in their shop that she knows where the coroner virus comes from. WE DESPERATELY NEED OUR OWN MEDIA We desperately need our own media to annihilate systemic racism. We don’t even know enough to be desperate for it! Their pseudo-Black media tells us after that this battle was finally won (after 6 years in prison) or hours or days before that an innocent man is on death row about to be executed. WE DEAL WITH RACISM ON ALL FRONTS We deal with systemic racism on all fronts. We mentor; we start programs to protect our kids; we fire ALL of the white cops from elsewheres patrolling and brutalizing Black spaces who funnel in the drugs and the guns with impunity then lock up our kids for having (or using) them. GARY WEBB AND THE DEATH OF INVESTIGATIVE JOURNALISM Gary Webb’s article exposing CIA involvement in crack to fund an illegal war for Reagan/Bush and his assertion that they pumped it into Black spaces creating the crack epidemic opened the door a notch. And because of it, white cops from elsewheres, who had previously remained silent, spoke up about how the CIA recruited (and tried to recruit) them to mule in the illegal substance.
