WE DESPERATELY NEED OUR OWN MEDIA

WE DESPERATELY NEED OUR OWN MEDIA

We desperately need our own media to annihilate systemic racism. We don’t even know enough to be desperate for it!

Their pseudo-Black media tells us after that this battle was finally won (after 6 years in prison) or hours or days before that an innocent man is on death row about to be executed.

It’s like playing a ball game where we’re ALWAYS on defense. ‘Uh-oh, here they come again! Get ready!’

We cannot hope to win this way. But there are patterns. Racism is insidious, yet predictable.

White cops from elsewheres will flood our streets with guns and drugs and their media will blast about gangbanging and drive-bys.

But in cities like NY where cops are not allowed to flood in drugs and guns, they convince us that Black folk here are different’; but we know what what makes the difference.

Black women are regularly found hanged in prison and labeled a suicide, so Sandra Bland isn’t an anomaly. And if they perceive Korryn Gaines

(a single mom employed weighing 80lbs soaking wet with unpaid traffic tickets) a threat enough to turn off her social media outlet,

invade her home, shoot her son and murder her in front of him, then how many other Korryn’s are out there who don’t reach the lame stream media’s view?

Then there’s Marissa Alexander who was sentenced to 20 YEARS! for firing a warning shot at her abusive husband while her white counterparts are deemed ‘not guilty’ for much harsher remedies.

But that didn’t stop many of us Black men parroting the media in saying, “She’s no angel!”

Then there are the Black women who do years for sending their CHILDREN to a better funded school outside of their district while their white counterparts when caught count themselves  unlucky to spend a weekend in jail!

Then there’s Michelle Alexander’s book, The New Jim Crow exposing how we ALL turn a deaf ear to ‘convicts’ not realizing that so many of us cop plea deals for fear of being Kalief Browdered.

And now this Black actor, Trulove, who did 6 YEARS!, framed by police who coerced false witnesses and a legal and media system all in cahoots to hide evidence which would have exonerated him from the get-go. Sound familiar?

“Trulove sued the police force after he was arrested for the 2007 murder of his friend Seu Kuka. But a jury determined

that officers Maureen D’Amico and Michael Johnson covered up, lied about evidence and “failed to disclose exculpatory material,” according to the outlet. Reisman said the police also coerced a witness to identify Trulove as the shooter.“

We incarcerate more people (mainly Black folk) than any other nation on the planet 🌍 EVER! And we use all of the racist tactics mentioned above - and so much more.

Then we systemically traffic our own CHILDREN 500,000 each year with each institution doing its part; the cops, the CPA, foster care, the judges and the media.

And we, of course, turn a blind eye so no one bears the full brunt of the blame. And we think ourselves righteous when we root for Cyntoia,

not realizing that for every one of her, there are 500,000 CHILDREN without the strength or the will to fight back!

And we’re ok with this because we have been conditioned to be ok with this. When we say that violence is not an option, what we really mean is ‘reciprocal’ violence.

If they purposefully flood toxic water into our drinking systems, it’s a lapse of judgement; but if we take that same water and flood it into former Gov Snyder and his neighbors’ drinking systems, it’s an act of terror.

When referring to reciprocal attacks, King plainly said that “violence is the language of the unheard”.

There’s a book Violence as Protest which I’m sure you’ve all read which speaks on this matter in detail.

Without having our own media to steer the narrative towards reparations and firing all of the white cops from elsewheres,

folk will be left with no choice but to set them on fire so that firing them by comparison will seem downright reasonable.

If this upsets you, then consider your conditioning where 2 hashtags a week EVERY WEEK by cop goes ignored while damage to property is proof of our savagery.

Where one white nurse Wubbels gets handcuffed HANDCUFFED! and they ban the entire police force from the hospital and their media calls her “THE MOST INNOCENT OF VICTIMS!”

All while our so-called Black media blames it on the mom’s or the kids not pulling their pants up and all they have to say about the corrupt and corrupted police is “NOT ALL!”

It’s like there’s some sort of spell preventing folk from seeing the obvious evil. Either we break the spell or the spell breaks us.

Can’t wait ‘til we have our own media. Everything changes.

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PERSUASION AND CONVICTION

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PERSUASION AND CONVICTION Decades ago, in my teens, my oldest brother and I had a talk where I said, “Can you believe that they’re having another gay pride parade?” He told me that he participated in a gay pride parade. Then we just stared at one another - and because many don’t know how to communicate without language, I will translate: Me: (But you’re not gay) Him: (True, but our struggle is their struggle and theirs is ours) Me: (Hmmm. Now I have to rethink everything because this is my brother whom I love challenging my core beliefs). I was persuaded that day. Today, my brother is long dead but I’m still reposting. That’s called CONVICTION.

ON SCAPEGOATING WHITE SAVAGERY

Those who brought their CHILDREN to lynchings dressed in their Sunday best are not ghouls or monsters or any more racist than white folk are today. They’re just people conditioned to do what white savagery tells them is acceptable. And decades from now, they’ll scapegoat the white folk today who ignore the hashtags, refuse to say fire ALL of the white cops from elsewheres, creating the most incarcerating nation on the planet...EVER! All while continuing their 22nd century conditioned evils without a thought of repenting. It’s like there’s some sort of spell...

When white folk dump, we can’t get Angry about it

I got angry over a white (almost white) person saying that I’m overreacting. Immediately afterwards, I berated myself, thinking that I should’ve held my cool. But just as we laud those black heroes who articulate the pain rather than express it, we condemn ourselves for feeling what is normal to feel.  Part of colonization says that I have no right to be angry and that my anger is naturally perceived as a threat so it’s in my best interest to hold my tongue. This is not normal. We must break the economic, physical, emotional and spiritual consequences to be true human beings. Otherwise we’re just lying to ourselves. “How dare they get angry over our oppression of them!”
