THE CORONER VIRUS


So last week, a Chinese couple that I work with (they’ve been in business in our area for over 33 years) asked what I thought about this virus.

I told them that MY concern is the hashtags by cops twice a week, EVERY WEEK and another Black guy on death row who is once again innocent. They felt relieved.

Yesterday, one of my CHILD student chess champions loudly proclaims in their shop that she knows where the coroner virus comes from.

I say, “Really?”

CSCC: A friend of mine said that the Chinese cut the heads off of snakes and put them in soups and that’s how they got infected.

Me: So your friend says it’s their diet. And where did your friend hear about this?

CSCC: I don’t know.

Me: And if I repeat just what I heard from you without really knowing, don’t you think that would be hateful to the Chinese?

CSCC: (thinking)

Me: When they said Aids came from Africa via monkeys, everyone who looked like me was suspect.

And when cops arrest people who look like me more, they say that it’s because we’re more prone to violence and crime but that’s not true at all; we’re just being targeted.

CSCC: (thinking)

Me: Ask your friend where she heard it from because it’s hateful and untrue. If we eat (or don’t eat the same food all the time), then why would the same food cause a virus now?

What spreads faster than any virus is rumors and fear.

CSCC: I’ll ask her where she heard it and let her know tomorrow Coach Tim not to spread rumors!

Once again, my older Chinese friends were relieved.

So now Italy has quarantined over a dozen of its cities over 79 infected and 2 confirmed deaths.

They banned ALL cops from a hospital because one white nurse Wubbels gets handcuffed.

They have since executed that innocent Black man and there are still 2 hashtags a week EVERY WEEK by white cops from elsewheres with impunity since FOREVER!

Where’s the quarantine on that? It’s like there’s some sort of spell preventing folk from seeing the obvious. Either we break the spell or the spell breaks us. Can’t wait ‘til we have our own media. Everything changes.

WE DEAL WITH RACISM ON ALL FRONTS We deal with systemic racism on all fronts. We mentor; we start programs to protect our kids; we fire ALL of the white cops from elsewheres patrolling and brutalizing Black spaces who funnel in the drugs and the guns with impunity then lock up our kids for having (or using) them. We do have CHILD rape rings here which rival Florida, Texas and possibly even California (California is a dense, big state). We need to fire ALL of the white cops from elsewheres patrolling and brutalizing Black spaces! And regarding the white people and the Black folk who worship them who aid systemic racism through complicity, ignorance and arrog...

THE KLAN, THE COPS AND DEAD BLACK BODIES In Richard William’s (Venus and Serena’s dad) book, BLACK AND WHITE: The Way I See It, he talks about how in Louisiana, the Klan would kill young Black people for sport and how one night, he saved another Black boy’s life by dressing up in sheets from head to toe right when they were hauling a kid in their truck. How they invited him along, gave him the shotgun to ‘do the honors’. How he told the kid to run away while he pointed the shotgun at the other sheets, then stole their truck. How when white cops patrolling spotted him in his garb, they gave him a wave on by. And some wonder why our protests get us maced, jailed and killed while theirs receive police protection. Now this is America!
