THE CORONER VIRUS


So last week, a Chinese couple that I work with (they’ve been in business in our area for over 33 years) asked what I thought about this virus.

I told them that MY concern is the hashtags by cops twice a week, EVERY WEEK and another Black guy on death row who is once again innocent. They felt relieved.

Yesterday, one of my CHILD student chess champions loudly proclaims in their shop that she knows where the coroner virus comes from.

I say, “Really?”

CSCC: A friend of mine said that the Chinese cut the heads off of snakes and put them in soups and that’s how they got infected.

Me: So your friend says it’s their diet. And where did your friend hear about this?

CSCC: I don’t know.

Me: And if I repeat just what I heard from you without really knowing, don’t you think that would be hateful to the Chinese?

CSCC: (thinking)

Me: When they said Aids came from Africa via monkeys, everyone who looked like me was suspect.

And when cops arrest people who look like me more, they say that it’s because we’re more prone to violence and crime but that’s not true at all; we’re just being targeted.

CSCC: (thinking)

Me: Ask your friend where she heard it from because it’s hateful and untrue. If we eat (or don’t eat the same food all the time), then why would the same food cause a virus now?

What spreads faster than any virus is rumors and fear.

CSCC: I’ll ask her where she heard it and let her know tomorrow Coach Tim not to spread rumors!

Once again, my older Chinese friends were relieved.

So now Italy has quarantined over a dozen of its cities over 79 infected and 2 confirmed deaths.

They banned ALL cops from a hospital because one white nurse Wubbels gets handcuffed.

They have since executed that innocent Black man and there are still 2 hashtags a week EVERY WEEK by white cops from elsewheres with impunity since FOREVER!

Where’s the quarantine on that? It’s like there’s some sort of spell preventing folk from seeing the obvious. Either we break the spell or the spell breaks us. Can’t wait ‘til we have our own media. Everything changes.

SO WHERE’S THE UPROAR…?

 So where is the uproar when not one but two Black women world champions bow out from their sport because of the racist media for health reasons?  Their media of course focuses in on the “health reasons“ but we all know the truth!  Did Michael Jordan put a black tape over his mouth to stop speaking to the racist press for health reasons? Did Eddie Murphy only give interviews with Bryant Gumbel because of the racist press for health reasons? When we look at the interviews at the races press conducted with Mohammed Ally, they’re all about how he’s slowing down. No one mentions how our government took three years from him while he was in his boxing Prime! White people, boy! Can’t wait ‘til we have our own media. Everything changes.

WE DEAL WITH RACISM ON ALL FRONTS We deal with systemic racism on all fronts. We mentor; we start programs to protect our kids; we fire ALL of the white cops from elsewheres patrolling and brutalizing Black spaces who funnel in the drugs and the guns with impunity then lock up our kids for having (or using) them. And where do kids get guns for drive-bys? (Rhetorical) And do an inordinate amount of crimes occur in Black spaces in Baltimore and Detroit and L.A. as opposed to NY because Black folk in our city have more character and higher morals? (Also rhetorical) It’s because cops are not allowed to pump these things in here! We do have CHILD rape rings here which rival Florida, Texas and possibly even California (California is a dense, big state). We need to fire ALL of the white cops from elsewheres patrolling and brutalizing Black spaces! And regarding the white people and the Black folk who worship them who aid systemic racism through complicity, ignorance and arrog...
