WE ARE WHAT WE CONTINUALLY ACCEPT

 Community policing ONLY!


Fire ALL of the white cops from elsewheres patrolling and brutalizing Black spaces!


Again, it’s not an isolated incident if we each have a story.


“On May 15, 2010, police apprehended Browder and a friend on Arthur Avenue near East 186th Street in the Belmont section of the Bronx. 


Browder said he was going home from a party. He thought the police were carrying out a routine stop-and-frisk, a police procedure he had undergone on a number of occasions.”


Kalief’s bail was $10,000 which means that a mere $900 would’ve set him free.


The question is not how we can’t even come up with a mere $900, but how we continue to stomach their leeching off of our Black bodies?!?


Do you know that the former Black attorney general did a study (they paid mainly white educators to do it) showing that out of 21,000 Ferguson residents, 16,000 had outstanding warrants?!?


Do you know that another county had fired 15 of their white cops from elsewheres 


who were soon after rehired in Ferguson, including Darren Wilson, the murderer of Michael Brown?


It’s like there’s some sort of spell preventing folk from seeing the obvious. Either we break the spell or the spell breaks us.


Can’t wait ‘til we have our own media. Everything changes.

I got angry over a white (almost white) person saying that I’m overreacting. Immediately afterwards, I berated myself, thinking that I should’ve held my cool. But just as we laud those black heroes who articulate the pain rather than express it, we condemn ourselves for feeling what is normal to feel.  Part of colonization says that I have no right to be angry and that my anger is naturally perceived as a threat so it’s in my best interest to hold my tongue. This is not normal. We must break the economic, physical, emotional and spiritual consequences to be true human beings. Otherwise we’re just lying to ourselves. “How dare they get angry over our oppression of them!”

The Kerner Commission of 1968

“Our nation is moving towards two societies: one white, one black — separate and unequal.” - Kerner Commission 1968 And this statement was made 4 years after the Civil Rights Act of 1964 which was supposed to ‘correct’ the separate and unequal. What we gained from that era is essential: the right to vote, the right to use the same facilities including bathrooms, water fountains, restaurants, libraries and schools. But during that same time, we lost our media and its narrative. Black reporters were needed to report on the Black experience and the white papers paid much better. And when the Black papers went defunct, the Black reporters (in their previous numbers) were no longer necessary. So we had no narrative to guide us into the new era. White establishments were ‘better’ so we abandoned the Black ones.  And most of our businesses dried up along with our ability to employ one another. I’ll be gone in January so let me leave a few tips: And if you contend with their banter (right or wrong), the truth of say the Native genocide HORROR gets lost in the sauce. They refuse to lament over the evils of the past and so reflexively, in their denial and dissonance, engage in banter meant to distract.
