10 STEPS TO WHITE PEOPLE REPENTING OF THEIR RACISM

10 STEPS TO WHITE PEOPLE REPENTING OF THEIR RACISM

It has come to my attention that given the level of denial in America, white people may not actually know how to repent of racism.

So here’s a quick 10 step process with 9 of the steps being pure encouragement, Since racism stunts your emotional growth and you can only handle but so much.

1. If you made it to my friend page and have managed to follow the no comments mandate then kudos!
This automatically places you in the top 1% with all of the other white whisperers!

2. If you’ve ever apologized to one of us for ANYTHING, that puts you into the 1% of the 1%! And it doesn’t matter if you’ve done the Ben Affleck thing of getting caught in a racist lie

and then apologizing or if you’ve apologized all on your own volition; it still counts and is STILL far better than the Matt Damon ‘I’m gonna whitesplain my way out of my racist conditioning.’

3. If you’ve ever whitesplained, got corrected by us and said, ‘Oh’ as opposed to ‘Oh well...’, you’re way ahead of the curve!

‘Oh’ sends a signal to your brain that you’re not infallible; ‘Oh well’ tells your brain that you don’t really care either way.

4. If I were white and still this smart and pretty, I wouldn’t be concerned with Black folk much AT ALL; so the fact that you’ve read this far is astounding!

5. Due to misogynoir and homophobic conditioning, even we cis Black men do not apologize; and we have mutual empathy and don’t get a fraction of the benefits for our hatred and savagery!

6. If you’ve ever asked us how to talk to your racist cousins and actually listened to our pot and kettle answer, then you are stellar!

7. If you’ve actually listened to how I’m sexist with a mother, a sister and a wife and applied it to you own racist conditioning, then you’re shining so bright that my eyes hurt!

8. If you have the spiritual heft to see how your racism repentance alone is gonna change the entire planet, personal consequences be damned, then you’re John Browning it!

9. Kudos to you if you find yourself getting more and more honest about where you’re at, where you were and where you want to be.

10. Finally, the one thing I want you to do is pray (and/or meditate) on your racist conditioning. Like all of us, you want to say that you’ve done things on your own steam.

Now you can get away with that when it comes to job interviews and apt. hunts where you’re 50% more likely to get what you want.

But combating racism is like looking at yourself in the mirror for the 1st time, warts and all. It isn’t pretty and you’ll definitely need to rely on a higher power to eventually stop pretending.

But remind yourself that seeing where you’re truly at is the first step in seeing where you want to be.

Be well and be safe.

When white folk dump, we can’t get Angry about it

I got angry over a white (almost white) person saying that I’m overreacting. Immediately afterwards, I berated myself, thinking that I should’ve held my cool. But just as we laud those black heroes who articulate the pain rather than express it, we condemn ourselves for feeling what is normal to feel.  Part of colonization says that I have no right to be angry and that my anger is naturally perceived as a threat so it’s in my best interest to hold my tongue. This is not normal. We must break the economic, physical, emotional and spiritual consequences to be true human beings. Otherwise we’re just lying to ourselves. “How dare they get angry over our oppression of them!”

Rigged Legal System

Search words: Rigged Legal System, Gauntlet of oppression, racial profiling throughout  Years ago on jury duty, I was asked to render a ‘fair and impartial’ judgement regarding a young Black man accused of possession on the Upper East Side. There were only two Black people on the jury, myself and another dude. After a very long time, we ended up finding the defendant guilty. That’s the end of the story but not the narrative. The twelve main things I came to realize: 1. Several Black potential jurors were citing a mantra about their unwillingness to participate in a prejudiced judicial system. It was my first time hearing it but should I be called again, I’ll google it and voice my objection in the same way. 2. The suspect was stopped for a broken taillight, but as his wife said when she examined their car at the station, the light was never broken. 3. The white judge, however, ruled that the bust was still legit even though he was clearly stopped for drivin...

ON REPARATIONS

Never banter with white folk about reparations. It’s like arguing with your boss about wages they haven’t paid you. The only acceptable answer, whether they can give it or not, is “Yeah… You right!” Anything less from them is pure toxicity.
