THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR REPENTANCE WHEN IT COMES TO RACISM
Be aware of their feelings. Be aware of their feelings first. Find a more palatable way of calling out their racist conditioning - preferably with some white whisperer in the mix.
Often, when ‘progressive’ white folk find pages like ours, they engage in what is known as ‘course correction’:
Where they find out that thug is code for the n word so they stop using it.
They see the trend of hashtags and brutalities and offer their mew mew platitudes on our pages.
While their pages are filled with puppies and kittens and what they had for brunch.
They’ll see a post like this and realize that an extra protest meme or two needs to be thrown in the mix.
But the problem with course correction is that it’s not repentance.
When the next racist narrative comes along, because they haven’t owned up to their evil conditioning, they’ll be susceptible to that lie as well.
So until we set them straight that an inordinate number of Black folk are dying from the virus because we’re being inordinately turned away from hospitals
by doctors, nurses and admin (the same ones the world has us praising right now), they’ll attribute our susceptibility to
lack of social distancing, holding a frontline essential worker job and hypertension due to our race-related bad diet and exercise regimens.
Until they repent, they’ll always be just a snow cone away from completely losing their ‘composure’ because we’ve said
something that pricked their Benetton bubble exposing their facade. There are two types of people, spiritually speaking;
those who repent and those who do not. When it comes to white folk and racism, 99.8% fall in the ‘do not’ category.
Progressive and course correcting are made up terms that they try and substitute for the real thing along with anti-racist and white-fragility and the like.
Then they use some man or woman who loses her marbles over something we’ve said as a scapegoat, thinking that they would NEVER be that way - but they’re that way all the time; they just course correct a little better.
And the proof is when so many of them are surprised come election day, when once again 45 is elected
without ever considering their shared racist conditioning which lead up to this.
I don’t even have time to delve into their issues so I banned the white gaze entirely from my page so that we Black folk can commiserate and grow.
And by that, I mean so we can repent of our misogynoir and homophobic and rapemongering conditioning as well as other ‘issues’ that hold us back from true freedom.
So it’s never us; it’s always them. And we have our own issues so we ain’t got time for that.
Can’t wait ‘til we have our own media. Everything changes.
