Kanye

Kanye

Kanye saying, "Bush doesn't care about Black people" during a disaster where we SEE Bush not caring about Black people scores a lot of points with me.

Does he beat his wife?
Does he cheat on his wife?
Has he harmed or caused anyone to be physically harmed?
Has he threatened anyone's life?
Has he raped anyone or had sex with someone underaged (statutory rape)?
Kelsey Grammer did that and no-one calls him names.

Would you say he's NOT talented?
Has he ever been arrested for or convicted of any crime?

If he were white, would we be having this conversation?

Do you know that uppity was a common term used for prominent Black men?

It's use stopped in polite company once it was outed as a code for the n word.

Then thug was outed as code so that stopped being used. But before then, it was used plenty and often, even for men like Kanye who has no criminal record.

Now arrogant is the common word.

For example, some might call me arrogant. They called (and call) Obama arrogant (the Harvard Law Professor/Senator/President (8 years electoral and popular vote).

Whatever your view, I would suggest removing arrogant from your list of adjectives for Black men the way that you did 'thug' and 'uppity'.

We don't call Trudeau of Canada arrogant. Nor Bill Clinton. Reagan. Carter. Elvis. The Beatles. The Stones, etc.

The B word is exclusively used for women which is one of several reasons why I no longer use it.

We are so indoctrinated with malicious codes that we take offence when someone points it out. But point it out we must.

And by the way, I do hope you're past using the excuse that Black folk say it too or women say the b word to each other too.

We must do better.

Can't wait 'til we have our own media. Everything changes.

When white folk dump, we can’t get Angry about it

I got angry over a white (almost white) person saying that I’m overreacting. Immediately afterwards, I berated myself, thinking that I should’ve held my cool. But just as we laud those black heroes who articulate the pain rather than express it, we condemn ourselves for feeling what is normal to feel.  Part of colonization says that I have no right to be angry and that my anger is naturally perceived as a threat so it’s in my best interest to hold my tongue. This is not normal. We must break the economic, physical, emotional and spiritual consequences to be true human beings. Otherwise we’re just lying to ourselves. “How dare they get angry over our oppression of them!”

Rigged Legal System

Search words: Rigged Legal System, Gauntlet of oppression, racial profiling throughout  Years ago on jury duty, I was asked to render a ‘fair and impartial’ judgement regarding a young Black man accused of possession on the Upper East Side. There were only two Black people on the jury, myself and another dude. After a very long time, we ended up finding the defendant guilty. That’s the end of the story but not the narrative. The twelve main things I came to realize: 1. Several Black potential jurors were citing a mantra about their unwillingness to participate in a prejudiced judicial system. It was my first time hearing it but should I be called again, I’ll google it and voice my objection in the same way. 2. The suspect was stopped for a broken taillight, but as his wife said when she examined their car at the station, the light was never broken. 3. The white judge, however, ruled that the bust was still legit even though he was clearly stopped for drivin...

ON REPARATIONS

Never banter with white folk about reparations. It’s like arguing with your boss about wages they haven’t paid you. The only acceptable answer, whether they can give it or not, is “Yeah… You right!” Anything less from them is pure toxicity.
