THIS IS MY FAVORITE PART

THIS IS MY FAVORITE PART

This is my favorite part:

1. When you pray about changing things for years and years.

2. Asking The Almighty to expose your faults and fill you with the Spirit to overcome.

3. Years of praying about each and every response before posting.

4. Exposing my sins again and again as an example that we can stop pretending.

5. ALWAYS praying for our leaders - good and bad - knowing that the command comes with a promise.

6. Giving to the poor especially when you have little because they have far less.

7. Never blocking or unfriending because my strength is renewed EVERY MORNING.

8. Praying for my people, whether they like me or not.

(Side note: I know of a guy who prayed for his group [when it was about this size] by name EVERY DAY! I’m no superhero like that, but will pray for you when you post your challenges.)

9. This kind can ONLY come out by prayer (and fasting).

10. ALWAYS keep praying and NEVER give up.

11. Praying for The Almighty to continually expose my misogynoir and homophobic conditioning.

12. Be willing to lose dear friends by calling out their faults for the sake of the gospel, because as much as I love them, they are but ash on my tongue by comparison.

13. Giving up careers and opportunities for the sake of integrity is a no-brainer because I’m promised a far more lasting reward.

14. Reveling with gratitude in my clarity of thought.

15. Because of my commitment to The Almighty, God has trained and surrounded me with the very best people on the planet 🌍
That would be YOU!

So the part that I love is after the years and years of planting and cultivating; right before the seeds sprout and all can see. When it’s just me and my God communing.

When I KNOW deep down (before the proof erupts) that in spite of ANY history, from the moment I was tasked to combat the systemic evils, their doom was imminent - like the revelation that is to come.

But all that I’ve just said is a given to me. What I often think about is that if you’ve made it to my friends list, you must be VERY special. Stop wallowing in mediocrity and show me just how amazing you are!

Stop waiting for the seeds to sprout and the blessings to flow and the evil to give way; just KNOW that in the near future, it has ALREADY done so and revel in the majesty of it all!

Be well.

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PERSUASION AND CONVICTION

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PERSUASION AND CONVICTION Decades ago, in my teens, my oldest brother and I had a talk where I said, “Can you believe that they’re having another gay pride parade?” He told me that he participated in a gay pride parade. Then we just stared at one another - and because many don’t know how to communicate without language, I will translate: Me: (But you’re not gay) Him: (True, but our struggle is their struggle and theirs is ours) Me: (Hmmm. Now I have to rethink everything because this is my brother whom I love challenging my core beliefs). I was persuaded that day. Today, my brother is long dead but I’m still reposting. That’s called CONVICTION.

ON SCAPEGOATING WHITE SAVAGERY

Those who brought their CHILDREN to lynchings dressed in their Sunday best are not ghouls or monsters or any more racist than white folk are today. They’re just people conditioned to do what white savagery tells them is acceptable. And decades from now, they’ll scapegoat the white folk today who ignore the hashtags, refuse to say fire ALL of the white cops from elsewheres, creating the most incarcerating nation on the planet...EVER! All while continuing their 22nd century conditioned evils without a thought of repenting. It’s like there’s some sort of spell...

When white folk dump, we can’t get Angry about it

I got angry over a white (almost white) person saying that I’m overreacting. Immediately afterwards, I berated myself, thinking that I should’ve held my cool. But just as we laud those black heroes who articulate the pain rather than express it, we condemn ourselves for feeling what is normal to feel.  Part of colonization says that I have no right to be angry and that my anger is naturally perceived as a threat so it’s in my best interest to hold my tongue. This is not normal. We must break the economic, physical, emotional and spiritual consequences to be true human beings. Otherwise we’re just lying to ourselves. “How dare they get angry over our oppression of them!”
